Because we find the good at home.
Sustainability
Real. Originally. Unmistakable.

So genuine & sustainable
1. **Waste Separation**
– Careful waste separation ensures that recyclable materials are properly recycled and hazardous substances are safely disposed of. This reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and promotes a more efficient use of resources. The Hauserei team is 100% behind this!
2. **Biomass Heating**
– Biomass heating systems use organic materials such as wood pellets or wood chips to generate heat. This method is CO2-neutral, since the CO2 released during combustion was previously absorbed by the plants as they grew. This avoids the use of fossil fuels and the associated CO2 emissions. That’s why we heat the guesthouse with wood pellets from the region! For our wood-burning stoves, we use firewood from our own forest, which we cut ourselves.
3. **Wooden House**
– Building wooden houses contributes to sustainability because wood is a renewable resource. Trees absorb and store CO2 as they grow, resulting in a positive carbon footprint. In addition, the production of wood products requires less energy compared to building materials such as concrete or steel. A large portion of the house was constructed using locally sourced wood. In the case of the existing house, the vast majority of the furniture was even designed and built in Guntram Sr.’s in-house carpentry shop.
4. **Prioritizing Local Products**
– Using local products supports the regional economy and reduces energy consumption and emissions associated with long-distance transportation. This leads to a lower environmental impact and promotes the region’s sustainable development. And farmers, butchers, dairy farmers, and hunters benefit directly from the added value.
Our own farm, the “Bauerei”, also produces many a tasty treat. So we have eggs from happy hens all year round, and in the summer months salads, vegetables and fruit that we can harvest.
5. **Electricity from the Region**
– We source our energy from 100% organically produced electricity. Even better… we get our electricity from our neighbors, because we’re a member of the Lechtal Energy Community. You can also conveniently charge your electric car at our charging stations in the parking lot and fill up with green electricity.
6.**But what does it still mean to be sustainable?**
Sustainability also means reusing items that have been in use for a long time. As in our case, at least since 1844! Our Senza Room was built in that year by a certain Mr. JS Scharf. The precision shown here is astonishing. Saw, hammer, chisel, hand plane, glue, sandpaper; that was all one had and needed back then to craft beautiful rooms, in this case made of pine wood, which are still in perfect condition even after almost 200 years.
You will also find rarities in our bar & lounge. We made the lounge tables from century-old doors and tables in our own carpentry workshop. Each one is unique. A unique piece that tells a story. A story from poor times, when quality and precision were very important. Even our old “logo”, which hung above the old front door until the early 1960s, was moved to the attic by Guntram Sr. as a precaution. “I don’t know! – Maybe it needs some amoul?” And indeed – now it hangs in the new Hauserei and bears witness to the attachment to this house that has lasted for generations. That too is sustainability!
These sustainable practices illustrate the Hauserei’s commitment to environmental protection and resource conservation. By combining renewable energies, renewable raw materials and regional economic development, the Hauserei sets a strong example for sustainable business.
Indulgence
We use fresh herbs, salads and vegetables from our own garden in our kitchen with a keen sense for the real thing. And of course herbs and plants directly from the surrounding nature. Mainly seasonal and regional products. Whenever possible from local farmers. The eggs come straight from our own farm to your table. We get our daily bread from our neighbors – the Dengel bakery.
You can also enjoy fresh, natural spring water straight from the tap at any time. As if that wasn’t enough, our spring water is additionally refined with Grander’s high-quality water activation. Your body benefits from water that is deacidified, freed from toxins, enriched with free electrons and has an optimized pH value. Whether it’s the water from the tap in your room, at breakfast or in the wellness area – our refined water supplies your body cells with additional vital energy. Everywhere in the Stearawirt’s Hauserei – at any time.
Wellness
We also rely entirely on the power of nature for our cosmetic products. We obtain these from the company Metzler – Whey products from the Bregenzerwald.
Feel free to bring your own flip-flops if you want to contribute even more to the topic of sustainability. Otherwise we have some for you for a fee.
We heat up – only if you want it: Sustainability also includes the resource-saving heating of our saunas & steam baths.
One stroke is enough: If you’re browsing through our morning post and feel like taking a dip in our steam room today, make a line and we’ll heat it up for you!
